  • CALABASH FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE

    Calabash Fire Department is having an open house at its new state of the art station located on 892 Persimmon Rd April 26, 2014 at 11 AM.  All are invited to this dedication ceremony.  Lunch will be served immediately following the ceremony.  

  • Past Chief Jerry Prince of the Calabash Fire Department

    On May 7, 2014 Jerry Don Prince went home to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Jerry will be forever remembered by the Calabash Fire Department for his dedication, mentoring of the Firefighters to the Fire Service, and always sharing the goodness and love of God.The funeral service was held a the Calabash Fire Department May 10, 2014 with full Military and Fireman's Honors.  The burial took place at the Manley Bennett Cemetery. Jerry Prince served in the Army, National Guard, Pastor of Calabash Baptist Church and a Member in good standing of the Calabash Fire Department for approximately  40 years acting as Chief of the Department and later Chaplain of the Department.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
    The Rev. Jerry Don Prince passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at his
    home in Calabash. The service was held May 10, 2014, at Calabash Fire
    Department and officiated by the Rev. Jesse Stephens. The burial took place
    at Manley Bennett Cemetery prior to a reception at Beulah Baptist Church.
    Brunswick Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.
    Rev. Prince served in the U.S. Army and later the National Guard. He was the former
    pastor of Calabash Baptist Church and a member of the Calabash Fire
    Department for approximately 40 years-acting as fire chief and later
    chaplain.
    He is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Prince Sherman and Donna Prince
    Long; two sons-in-law, Tommy Sherman and Rod Long; two granddaughters, Autumn
    McCumbee and Emma Bartlett; his mother, Tina Allen; one brother, Ricky Prince;
    and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. He was preceded
    in death by his father and another brother.
    Rev. Prince was an active member of his community until his passing,
    volunteering for numerous civic organizations in Brunswick County. His impact
    will be felt for years to come.
